Discover 2017’s hot new flooring trend

By 9th March 2017

In recent years, the trend for pale Scandi-look wood floors moved from the pages of interior design magazines to become a reality in stylish UK homes.

The popularity of paler floors doesn’t look like decreasing any time soon. Meanwhile, the next trend is following hot on its heels! This time it’s toward more-patterned floors like herringbone and chevron – and combinations of these floors and planks.

There are lots of reasons to consider herringbone and chevron floors. It’s an exciting look that doesn’t date, looks great in any room and the opportunities to mix patterns and planks using borders or between rooms gives you so many design options.

The Create collection offers wide plank, herringbone, squares and chevron designs with enormous potential to create unique designs. Use each one alone for elegant, understated floors, or combine them to add interest and complexity.

Alternatively, try using different designs, with the same tone, in different areas of the project. For instance, how about matching the timeless elegance of chevrons with wide planks? Or herringbone with squares?

The choice of ten complementary and interchangeable tones further ensures that your creativity is given free reign without having to compromise on quality and stability. All Create floors are constructed from 100% oak with a counter-balanced back layer and core made entirely of oak.

Our master craftsman say: “I recommend Create Cashmere Chevron to create a modern, textured look with bags of character.”

Our Aged floors are part of the Woodworks by Ted Todd Portfolio, where you’ll find all of our handmade, reclaimed and antique floors.

The Aged floors include wide planks, herringbone, chevron and Parquet de Versailles, giving you huge design scope. The oak we use is sourced from the Quercus region in France. By investing in this wonderful flooring, you’re buying your own piece of French oak’s rich interior heritage.

An amazing artisan story

These are crafted boards – not just ‘made’ but designed, developed and handcrafted by our master craftsmen with characteristic saw marks, soft rolled edges, scrubbed knots, natural end cracks and lovely broad medullary rays. Together, they combine into a stylish wood floor with a great story.

Nine tones and stunning finishes

Woodworks’ Aged floors are available in nine tones. Choose from a rich, deeply polished Burnished Hardwax Oil or a dry-looking super matt Naked Skin Lacquer finish.

Our master craftsman says: “I recommend the Lauzes Herringbone and plank for its pure bleached out tones with minimal yellow pigmentation – it’s stunning in so many applications!
