Design and architecture firm Bluebottle recently executed the renovation of this outstanding work space in St James’, London.
In the 1600s, St James’ Park was home to much of Britain’s aristocracy, but it was only after WWII that this residential area transitioned into commercial use; it is now home to one of London’s royal parks as well as many fine dining restaurants and theatres, making it a sought-after destination for work spaces.
Bluebottle devised the restoration of this work space, with a brief of creating grand meeting rooms, contemporary breakout areas and tranquil sleep pods that are quirky and cool but still have a quintessentially British feel.
We were approached to specify Lauzes planks and chevron throughout the meeting rooms and reception areas, which created a seamless flow and tied the spaces together. Lauzes is constructed from the finest new oak which has been left to season for two years. This process gives the floor a look that makes it seem like it has been around for centuries, adding character and movement to each plank.
Our Jet panels were used in the library area, a dramatic addition that completed the grand space. Jet panels fuse impeccable French design with the Japanese process of Yakisugi, resulting in a deeply black finish with silvery tones when it catches the light. While these blackened Elm panels have a characteristic grain, they showcase a modern update on a classic design.
