Limehouse Apartments
The story behind Limehouse Apartments’ rare Morado rosewood floor Set among the maritime buildings of London’s Docklands, these design-led serviced apartments feature Darwin, Morado rosewood sourced from an FSC-certified forest in Bolivia. The depth and tonal variation found in this installation are now difficult to obtain. Ted Todd was commissioned to craft and install Darwin Morado flooring at Limehouse Apartments. We sourced the rosewood from an FSC-certified forest in Bolivia and selected boards with rich colour and pronounced natural variation, completing a distinctive floor for this London hospitality interior.

In the heart of London’s Docklands you’ll find Limehouse Apartments, a suite of serviced accommodation close to many of the capital’s most popular attractions. Situated among both 19th century maritime buildings and contemporary developments, Limehouse Apartments are now celebrated as one of the best, most design-led places to stay in the city, having been awarded multiple TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence.
At the Limehouse Apartments, we were commissioned to craft and install Darwin Narrow Plank, our Morado flooring, which is sourced from an FSC-certified forest in Bolivia. The beautiful tones of this environmentally-conscious rosewood are now very difficult to obtain, making this a very unique project.
Darwin up close
Darwin is crafted from Morado, a richly toned Bolivian rosewood with expressive natural variation across each board. Its particular colouring is now difficult to source, making the completed floor an increasingly unusual example of this distinctive timber.
