Plank Wood Flooring

Wood plank flooring is made from long, individual boards of timber laid in rows, rather than blocks or panels arranged in a repeating pattern. It is the simplest and most traditional wood flooring format, available from Ted Todd in a wide range of widths, lengths, colours and finishes, in both solid and engineered constructions.

Ted Todd plank flooring ranges from narrower boards around 80mm wide, through a traditional width of around 140mm, to extra wide planks between 180 and 220mm, and some of the widest planks in the range at 260 to 300mm. Wider planks tend to suit larger, more open spaces, while narrower planks can work well in more traditional or compact rooms.

A plank is a single, long piece of wood laid in rows. A panel is a pre assembled geometric pattern made up of smaller pieces of wood, fixed together and laid as one unit, sometimes bordered around the edge. Panels create a more intricate, repeating pattern than plank, which gives a simpler, more continuous look.

It depends on where the floor is going. Engineered plank flooring is more stable and better suited to underfloor heating and rooms with fluctuating humidity, while solid plank flooring offers a full depth of timber and works well in rooms without underfloor heating.
