Patterned flooring has been a feature of wood floors and cladding for centuries. Different patterns carry their own history and character: herringbone dates back hundreds of years, while other geometric layouts have appeared in grand interiors and public buildings throughout history. The appeal of patterned flooring lies in this variety, both in how each design looks and how it feels within a space. Some patterns bring a formal, structured character to a room, while others feel more relaxed and minimal. The Ted Todd range includes herringbone, chevron, square and panel designs, in a wide choice of species, colours, grades and finishes. Each pattern brings a different character to a space, from the classic zigzag of herringbone to the more structured, repeating look of a panel design.
It depends on where the floor is going. Engineered constructions are generally more stable and better suited to underfloor heating, while solid constructions offer a full depth of timber and work well in rooms without underfloor heating. Check the specification of your chosen pattern and construction before deciding.
