Inside award-winning Nando’s Swindon: Champagney chevron STAC Architecture used Champagney chevron across the private booths and underfoot. Repeating the geometry across both surfaces gives the restaurant a strong visual identity. STAC Architecture commissioned Woodworks by Ted Todd to supply the flooring and project-specific wall treatment. Woodworks is our sister brand, specialising in extraordinary modern and historic wood floors, handmade panels and bespoke architectural details, developed and made in its Cheshire workshops. Our team worked with STAC to select Champagney chevron.

STAC Architecture commissioned Woodworks by Ted Todd to supply chevron flooring and wall cladding for its award-winning Nando’s at Swindon Orbital.
Woodworks is our sister brand, specialising in extraordinary modern and historic wood floors, handmade panels and bespoke architectural details, developed and made in its Cheshire workshops. Champagney was selected to extend the chevron geometry across the floor and booth area.
Led by architect, Francesca Camilleri, STAC designed a space that truly encapsulates the Nando’s ethos.
Warm colours, fresh perspectives and eco-friendly choices were on the menu with the LED lighting, furniture, and even the artwork, being selected with the planet’s wellbeing in mind.
Champagney oak boards in chevron, from our Woodworks by Ted Todd Aged portfolio, were used by STAC as wall cladding to dominate the lover’s booth, creating a personal space with undulating texture. These natural boards are FSC certified, ensuring minimal impact on our planet’s vital resources.
This geometric design leads customers through the space. The engineered wood floor has been aged and seasoned for 24 months create a rich, dark appearance with subtle intricate designs, making it an ideal statement piece. Champagney is again FSC certified, helping to contribute towards a carbon neutral project.
The project was named a 2019 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards winner in the Multiple – UK category thanks to the incredible attention to detail, and we were thrilled to work alongside these two enterprises, both of whom share in our love for innovation and individuality.
The project demonstrates how one geometric format can connect different surfaces while allowing each timber’s tone and texture to remain distinct
Champagney up close
Champagney is a rustic-grade aged French oak with a dark brown tone. Seasoned for 24 months, it has skip-sawn detail, scrubbed knots, an undulating texture and soft-rolled edges. The 90 × 595mm chevron blocks are 20mm thick with a 6mm wear layer and a matt burnished hardwax-oil finish.
