Skof
Blacksheep designed Tom Barnes’ Michelin-starred restaurant within Manchester’s Edwardian Baroque Hanover Building. Exposed brick, steel beams and high ceilings create an industrial backdrop, balanced by the warmth of Ted Todd Bembridge herringbone, in a bespoke basket-weave laying pattern. Supplied as 20mm engineered herringbone with a substantial wear layer and protective finish, Bembridge gave Blacksheep the flexibility to create a distinctive layout while meeting the demands of a high-traffic dining environment.

Project Overview
Skof, by acclaimed chef Tom Barnes, sits within Manchester’s NOMA district, an £800m regeneration scheme that has reshaped the city centre into a vibrant mixed-use destination.
Set against a backdrop of Edwardian Baroque architecture, the restaurant pairs heritage character with a contemporary, design-led interior by Blacksheep.

Specification
A warm, textured floor was required to complement the material palette and soften the industrial space.
Bembridge Narrow Herringbone was specified and installed in a distinctive basket weave, adding rhythm and visual interest across the open-plan layout.

Constructed at 20mm with a 6mm wear layer, the floor delivers long-term durability for a high-traffic hospitality environment. A burnished hardwax oil finish provides durable, natural protection, while nature-grade European oak adds knots and tonal variation for an authentic look.

Result
A 250m² open-plan restaurant with a refined industrial aesthetic, balancing durability and warmth. The floor enhances flow while supporting a 36-cover, Michelin-starred setting.
