Wiston matches City Vaults’ original floor as the Bradford pub expands next door Innsight Design retained the character of this Bradford landmark as it expanded into the adjoining building. Uniform-length Wiston planks establish a natural transition between the two interiors. Ted Todd worked with Alison Cooper of Innsight Design to find an engineered floor that could sit alongside the retained boards. Leisure specification consultant Alan Griffiths recommended Wiston from the Crafted Textures collection, supplied in uniform lengths to create a consistent transition and withstand the pub’s heavy daily footfall.

Combining the traditional value of a classic British pub with modern dining and design that customers demand can be a challenge but City Vaults, a landmark on Bradford’s high street for over 30 years, has more than delivered.
Every aspect of the brand, from menu selection to material choices, went through a careful development process to ensure that the classic and contemporary values blend through – with the wood floor top of the list.
For this project we were pleased to have the opportunity of working alongside Alison Cooper from Innsight Design. Their focus on creating sustainable spaces matches perfectly with the values of Ted Todd with attention to detail evident in all their projects.
To ensure that the existing wood floor was retained, we were asked to match it to an engineered Ted Todd option. Our specification consultant suggested using Wiston from Ted Todd’s Crafted Textures collection, which has antique-feel character, texture and durable constructions throughout, bringing together both rooms (the original City Vaults and the building next door) seamlessly.
The planks were selected in uniform lengths rather than the usual random lengths, allowing the beautiful original features of the building to sing alongside modern lighting choices and architectural details. Finished with a Matt Hardwax Oil and hosting a 6mm wear layer, this floor will last a lifetime at the heart of the Vaults, even with the high levels of traffic its destined to face.
A delightful classic building with modern punctuation marks which will continue to thrive in the heart of Yorkshire.

Finished with matt hardwax oil and constructed with a 6mm wear layer, it is designed for demanding commercial interiors. Uniform-length planks were selected for City Vaults, allowing its original features and contemporary lighting to remain prominent.
