HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Since we began manufacturing wood floors in 1993, we’ve been driven by a commitment to the environment. As our workshops grew, our ethos remained the same – to create great looking wood floors without compromising on sustainability.
We ensured we were environmentally accredited from the beginning. When we started crafting new wood floors in 1997 we became one of the first companies in Europe to be fully FSCTM certified.
Today we offer more FSCTM and PEFC certified floors than any other wood floor company, which are available in every format, tone, thickness, and finish. Our floors are built to last a lifetime and our confidence in them is reflected in our minimum 20-year guarantee.
Now more than ever, creating safety and sanctuary in homes and shared spaces can be achieved with conscious choices, allowing us to enhance our connection with nature, protect the environment and improve health and wellbeing from the ground up.
We go above and beyond the usual environmental and sustainability standards and have many third-party accreditations.
The vast majority of our floors are accredited by FSC™ or PEFC, both of which are global organisations that independently confirm that all of our floors that are made from new timber are sourced from well managed forests.
In short, all of our timber (whether floors or wall cladding) follows the UK Timber Regulations as standard, which verifies that all of our timber is legally farmed.
We do not charge any extra for FSC™ or PEFC certification, it comes as standard and always will do.FIND OUT MORE
All of our floors are natural and contain no PVC and have low VOC emissions. Plus, we have carried out extensive research and testing and we are very proud to be the first wood flooring company in the world able to display the SVOC FREE logo on all of our wood-based products.FIND OUT MORE
Wood is the only construction material that locks away carbon.
In June 2019 the UK legally committed to cut emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases to net zero by 2050. So, it’s beneficial to know that you’re choosing world’s most environmentally friendly construction material and preparing for the future, today.
Not only is reclamation part of our origin, it also represents our passion for sustainability.
Reclaimed or recycled wood is even more environmentally friendly than a new timber floor. Many of our Woodworks floors are reclaimed and they heavily reduce environmental impact through re-use and a circular economy, making these materials the most sustainable choice available.RECLAIMED WOOD FLOORING
THE CIRCLE OF LIFE
For a project to be genuinely sustainable, it needs to be capable of functioning throughout its entire lifecycle.
Buy an efficient floor that will last for decades, with a thicker wear layer that can be carefully sanded throughout the years.
Our floors are built to last a lifetime and our confidence in them is reflected in our minimum 20-year guarantee.
Our floors are created for you to buy once and buy for life so, they age well for you to enjoy over many years. However, should your Ted Todd or Woodworks floor come to the end of its use it’s good to know that they can be fully recycled, unlike manmade plastic alternatives.
OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
- We will continue to provide long life products that will stand the test of time.
- Design and make floors that have a minimal environmental impact.
- Provide carbon negative solutions as standard.
- We aim to use only independently certified new woods with the target of supplying 100% certified new woods over the next few years.
- Reclaim and re-purpose previously used wood for 20% of our sales.
- Heat our factories with wood waste generated in our own manufacturing processes.
- Develop natural fibre alternatives to LVT and other petrochemical-based floors.
- Create healthy environments inside your homes, places of work, and leisure venues.

All our wood floors are natural, are 100% SVOC free and have low VOC’s. The long-term serious exposure to chemicals used in the manufacturing process of products used in our homes and commercial spaces is not yet fully understood. However, preliminary research into the effects of indoor air quality has confirmed that inside pollutants do exist and have a negative effect on people’s health.
