The Boathouse
Raw Clay used natural timber throughout The Boathouse, with Husk Extra Wide Plank and Narrow Herringbone bringing warmth and variation underfoot. Whilst Minette, Orleans and reclaimed Thread add texture across the walls. Our Commercial Specification team worked with Raw Clay to develop a cohesive flooring and cladding specification, combining Husk with cladding from Woodworks by Ted Todd.

Project Overview
The Boathouse in Guildford is a three-storey café, coworking and events space inspired by the River Wey. Designed by Raw Clay, the over 700m² space combines natural materials with a relaxed, contemporary interior focused on wellbeing and community.

Specification
Raw Clay selected Husk oak to bring warmth, texture and movement across the café and Soulspace coworking areas.
Husk Extra Wide Plank and Narrow Herringbone were used to echo the rhythm of the River Wey, with the rich grain patterns, distinctive knots and an undulating brushed texture working together to add character and depth underfoot.
Crafted from FSC-certified European oak, Husk was chosen to complement the natural elements and organic textiles throughout the rest of the interior, supporting the project’s focus on durable, responsible materials.

Result
A warm, layered interior that connects the building to its riverside setting. Husk brings natural texture and visual movement while providing a durable engineered floor designed for long-term use across high footfall café and coworking environments.
