Waddesdon Manor
Waddesdon Manor renews its shop with characterful Husk oak The Manor Shop renovation formed part of the continued care of an estate visited by hundreds of thousands of people each year. Husk’s smoky colouring and undulating texture sit sympathetically within the listed interior, with an engineered construction suited to regular visitor traffic. Following the client’s selection of Husk, Ted Todd retail partner M J Harris Flooring managed the supply and installation. Careful fitting allowed the textured oak to work comfortably alongside the existing architectural details and meet the high standards maintained across the Waddesdon estate.

Waddesdon Manor, a French Renaissance-style château was opened to the public in 1959, having been built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild between 1874 and 1885 to display his collection of arts and to entertain. The Manor now welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.

Celebrating 60 years of Waddesdon in 2019, much work has been carried out behind the scenes over the years to restore Waddesdon to its former glory. Recently, the Manor Shop underwent a renovation, as did the bar area of the Five Arrows, Waddesdon’s boutique hotel which sits at the entry gates. As with any heritage site, careful conservation practices were no doubt observed.
For the Manor Shop renovation, the client chose Ted Todd Husk, a 15mm engineered wood flooring available in herringbone and plank designs. This Nature grade floor is 100% FCS certified, with smoky oak tones and an undulating surface full of surprises every board is unique. It was fitted to be sympathetic to the aesthetics of this listed building and to match the high standards of the estate, it was supplied and expertly installed by one of our retail partners – M J Harris Flooring.
