Ahead of the much-anticipated launch of Residence® we partnered up with interiors stylist and creative consultant Amanda Corston. Having worked with leading brands from M&S to House of Fraser, her repertoire features projects ranging from advertising to film. Drawing on her approach to considered, layered interiors, Amanda styled two distinct spaces using Motcombs Narrow Herringbone and Bloomfield Chevron.

Curated Collections
The starting point was creating interiors that felt considered rather than dictated by a single trend. The styling combines contemporary furniture with artisanal pieces, natural materials and carefully selected accents, allowing each floor to establish a different character.
This approach is particularly effective when working with wood flooring. Natural grain and tonal variation provide a starting point, while furniture, textiles, stone, metal and decorative pieces can be layered around it.
For Motcombs, Amanda selected light earth tones to complement the floor's warm, honeyed colour. Brighter jewel tones were introduced through smaller decorative details, adding contrast without disrupting the restrained palette.
This room’s styling features a hand-blown crystal vase in dappled shades of yellow and orange, an eye-catching accent in the neutral-toned space.
Bloomfield takes a different direction. Its deeper, cooler tone creates a more dramatic foundation, allowing statement pieces and warmer accents to stand out against the darker floor. The considered use of statement pieces such as an oversized gold link paperweight or a contemporary resin vase adds tailored character to the space.
The Charles – a contemporary Peroba wood desk by Andrew Martin, adds a sleek and sophisticated edge to the room design with clean lines, solid drawer fronts, and a striking black gunmetal stainless steel base.
Curved Design
In both Residence® spaces, curved furniture was paired with the more ordered geometry of the flooring. The contrast creates balance rather than uniformity, with the floor providing structure while furniture and decorative pieces introduce softer forms.

This relationship is particularly clear alongside Bloomfield Chevron. The regularity of the chevron pattern contrasts with sculptural furniture and organically shaped accessories, creating a more layered composition.
Organic shapes such as the Rocaille Vase from ABASK play into this style, mirroring the patterns found in the natural world, where organic shapes and gentle curves prevail over rigid structures – a trend that is here to stay.
Artisanal Aesthetic
The charm of adding artisanal craftsmanship into your interior will transform your space from conventional to bespoke. Simply adding small accents such as ABASK’S delicate hand-blown vases returns the human touch to interior design, creating a considered, lived-in space.

Residence® was designed around a clean, considered appearance. The collection uses prime-grade oak and a square shoulder edge to create a bevel-free finish across the floor, giving the surface a more continuous appearance.
The brushed texture brings definition to the grain while retaining the clean lines of the floor. This allows Residence® to work across different interior styles, from contemporary residential spaces to more formal commercial environments.
The collection's range of tones also provides different starting points for a scheme. Lighter options such as Motcombs create a softer foundation, while deeper tones such as Bloomfield introduce greater contrast.
Designing with colour and tone
The colour of a wood floor can influence the atmosphere of an entire room. Residence® offers a considered range of tones that can be used as the starting point for a wider material palette.
Warm, honeyed tones can sit naturally alongside earthy colours, natural textiles and warm metals. Cooler or deeper tones create a stronger contrast and can provide a backdrop for lighter furniture, sculptural forms and brighter accents.
Amanda's styling of Motcombs demonstrates how a lighter floor can be paired with warm neutrals and carefully placed colour. Bloomfield takes the opposite approach, using its deep tone to create contrast with lighter and more expressive decorative pieces.
The result is two interiors with distinct identities, achieved through the same underlying approach to curation and material selection.
Looking beyond the trends
Good interior design is not necessarily about following every emerging trend. It is often about selecting materials and pieces that work together and will continue to feel considered over time.
Residence® was designed with this approach in mind. Its restrained tones and clean construction provide a versatile foundation, while the choice of plank, herringbone or chevron allows the overall character of the floor to be adapted to the space.
From warm, layered interiors to darker, more dramatic schemes, the collection demonstrates how wood flooring can influence the direction of a room while leaving space for the rest of the design to develop.
