Oxfordshire Country House
Project Type - Residential
Location - Oxfordshire
Project Overview
Set within the Oxfordshire countryside, this 16th-century monastery has been carefully restored into a contemporary family home. The renovation reconnects two previously separate buildings and reworks the interior to balance historic structure with modern living requirements.
Working with Ted Todd and Manor Flooring, the homeowners sought a single flooring solution to run throughout the property, combining plank and herringbone formats to create cohesion throughout this vast space, while defining different areas of the home. Having explored multiple options, the homeowners were drawn to Ted Todd for its considered design, quality and breadth of choice.

Working in collaboration
Manor Flooring played a central role in shaping the final specification, guiding the homeowners through every stage of the process with deep product knowledge and a highly personalised approach. Their team took time to understand both the architectural complexity of the property and the lifestyle needs of the clients, ensuring every recommendation was carefully considered.
Ryhill from the Project collection was selected in nature-grade European oak, valued for its natural knot, grain and tonal variation. A softly brushed surface and hardened oil, low-sheen finish enhance the character of the timber while supporting everyday family living, complementing the home’s traditional charm.

To support the decision-making process, Manor Flooring provided full-size display boards for use within the home and arranged a visit to the Ted Todd London Design Centre to view larger-scale displays. This hands-on, consultative approach allowed the clients to experience the timber at scale and compare formats in context, helping them make an informed decision with complete confidence in the final specification.

Installation
Installation was delivered in phases alongside wider renovation works across the historic building. Manor Flooring remained closely involved throughout, coordinating numerous professional installers, managing sequencing, and holding regular on-site meetings for alignment as the project evolved.
Their consistent communication ensured a smooth installation despite the complexity of working within a multi-phase heritage renovation. Support continued before, during and after completion, reinforcing a high level of care and attention throughout.

Result
A unified family home where historic architecture and modern interventions sit in balance. The combination of plank and herringbone introduces subtle rhythm throughout, while the natural oak tones set a strong foundation of character, allowing both heritage and contemporary elements to sit comfortably together.
This project demonstrates the value of working with a Ted Todd retail partner. It’s not just about supplying a floor, but delivering a complete service from expert guidance, tailored specification support, and hands-on project management from selection through to installation and aftercare.
