English Native Timbers
CRAFTED FROM THE FINEST OAK ATTAINABLE
English Oak is an exceptional variety of wood and is revered for being the finest oak of the species. It features an incredible natural grain pattern throughout the logs as a result of its wilder growth. Using the quarter-sawn technique to intersect the annular growth rings, our English Native Timber floors feature stunning straight grain patterns resulting from this cut. Additionally, the vessels that run from the tree heart to feed the new growth appear as silvery flecks across the width of the boards. These are called medullary rays which are celebrated through the floors in this collection.
As mentioned, we quarter saw our English Oak logs – a traditional technique used for hundreds of years. This way you get less wood from each log, but the usable wood has the best stability possible. Quarter-sawn oak mainly moves in its thickness and not in its width. To understand more about timber cuts visit our Journal.
For many of our customers we personalise their floor with a particular sheen. We also provide lacquer options for high-traffic installations. Talk to us today about bespoke options.
