How To Clean Light to Dark Toned Parquet Wood Floors

With a wealth of options, choosing the perfect flooring to match your style and décor plan can be a challenge, albeit a rewarding one. With a timeless appearance, Parquet wood flooring has recently seen its popularity further increase following the Regencycore interior design phenomenon, driven initially by the TV media sensation Bridgeton. Its regal, contemporary looks, combined with highly customisable and visually striking wood options, deliver a floor style you’ll want to fall in love with.

Whether you want your floor to have that natural lived-in look or to appear as pristine as possible, we would recommend a few sensible things to keep your floor looking great. A wood floor is made of natural materials, and part of its beauty is that it will age, but by using the right floor care your floor will age gracefully.

Our Floor Care Systems have been expertly developed to ensure you get the most longevity from your floor, with the least effort. Each Floor Care System is based on your floor’s finish and with minimal effort, your floor will appreciate the care throughout the years.

Lacquered finished floors – for light to dark toned floors

If your floor has been maintained regularly with the correct floor care system then sweeping/vacuuming followed by light mopping is all you need to maintain your floor. Floor Care System 1 is perfectly designed with lacquered finished floors in mind. Easy care used with a damp microfibre mop will ensure your floor is cleaned with a product that is gentle on your floor. Your floor should be cleaned by diluting a cap full of Easy Clean in a bucket of hot water, then use a mop and bucket to clean the floor. Make sure you squeeze as much water as possible out of the mop before using it on the floor. To get off to the very best start, apply a neat coat of Floor Care Polish before you start to use your floor. This polish is available in both a matt and gloss sheen level, it gives your floor added protection and it also adds a lovely lustre.

If your floor is looking tired and needs a little extra care, we suggest using our Intensive Polish. Firstly, deep clean your floor with Deep Clean Polish Remover and then apply 2 or more neat coats of Intensive polish. For the best results buff with a white pad on 17” buffing machine. Thereafter continue to maintain your floor with our Easy Clean and Floor Care Polish found in our Floor Care System 1.

Oil finished floors – for light to dark toned floors

If your floor has been maintained regularly with the correct floor care system then sweeping/vacuuming followed by light mopping is all you need to maintain your floor. Floor Care System 2 is perfectly designed with oil finished floors in mind. Your floor should be cleaned by diluting a cap full of Soft Clean in a bucket of hot water, then use a mop and bucket to clean the floor. Make sure you squeeze as much water as possible out of the mop before using it on the floor.

A light application of Oil Replenish will help you get the most out of your floor. It is 100% natural, easy to apply, and quick to dry. Apply, leave for 30 minutes, then buff it off. We always recommend that you trial a 150 x 150mm area before you coat the whole of your floor, this way you can check that you are not over applying the oil and that you are also happy with how it looks.

Once dry, apply a light application of Oil Replenish will help you get the most out of your floor. It is 100% natural, easy to apply, and quick to dry. Apply, leave for 30 minutes, then buff it off.

Why use Ted Todd Floor Care Systems?

To ensure your floor’s longevity, we don’t recommend using any other branded cleaning products on your Ted Todd floor. Most branded floor cleaners are solvent or bleached based and will damage your floor, leading to discolouration.

As long as your floor is maintained regularly with the Ted Todd Floor Care Systems, there is no need for special treatment. The correct Ted Todd Floor Care System is sufficient for maintaining your floor.

If you are unsure as to which Floor Care System is right for your Ted Todd floor, please ask your Ted Todd Specification Consultant or official retailer, or talk to us directly on 01925 283 000.
