How would you describe your design style?

I would describe my design style as contemporary Classic, with a love of colour. We create spaces that are charming and relaxed, elegant but not too precious. It is of the utmost importance to design a home around the client’s wishes, and we feel this is reflected in the individuality of each of our projects.

Contemporary Classic interior design seamlessly blends elements of both traditional and modern aesthetics, meticulously curated to achieve a space that exudes elegance, simplicity, and a lack of clutter. Celebrating the beauty of classic design principles, it encourages the use of symmetry, streamlined edges, and quality craftsmanship all whilst implementing elegant furnishings, intricate detailing and a paired back colour palette. When combined together these elements form the perfect balance of traditional opulence and comforting modernism, creating a space that is both charming and sophisticated.

We’d love to hear more about your latest renovation project and your clients expectations.

We are currently working on a new build beach house where the client has specifically requested an open plan living space. Due to its stunning beach location much of the façade will be glazed to give the optimum view of the sea. To allow the building to sit comfortably and seamlessly within the landscape it was important to specify sympathetic materials. This included a pebble façade, natural stone and beautiful oak. This extended into the materials chosen for the interior with the installation of natural real wood floors.

Tell us about the factors that play a part in choosing the right floor for a project.

On the majority of our projects we often start with the floor, factoring in its character, tone and texture. Wood adds warmth to a space and depending on the application, can be both informal and formal. Wood floor is a hugely versatile material and with the variety that Ted Todd has to offer, we can always find a floor suited to each individual project. As an advocate for sustainability I was also drawn to Ted Todd due to their commitment to the environment and premium flooring options. Choosing a floor that is high quality and durable eliminates the need for replacement and makes it a long term investment.

Do you have any notable projects where you have specified Ted Todd floors.

One of our latest projects were we specified Ted Todd flooring involved a lovely double fronted Edwardian family home in Central London. We had the pleasure of working on a complete redecoration of the home which included new bathrooms, study, large family room and drawing room, as well as an extensive lower ground basement turn billiards and media room. Cashmere Chevron was the perfect choice for this space, working well in both contemporary and more traditional schemes.

We also specified Ted Todd flooring for a recent restoration and remodel of an 18th century Manor House were the brief was to create an elegant yet relaxed home for a large and energetic family. The durable nature of Ted Todd floors allowed us to confidently specify it for a space we new would be open to high-traffic. This project was later featured in House and Garden.

Again as seen in House and Garden our renovation of a 17th century converted barn saw the further use of a Ted Todd floor, chosen for its subtle tones and character, making it the perfect choice, giving this 17th century barn a more modern feel.

What do you like most about using Ted Todd flooring, and do you have a favourite product of ours?

We have favoured Cashmere from the Create Collection for the above projects and were particularly drawn to it due to its beautiful natural oak look and elegant and understated nature. Not only is it an aesthetically pleasing floor, suited to my interior style, it is also hardwearing and easy to maintain. It sits beautifully in the background, allowing the flooring and interior décor to come together as one.
