Spotlight: Linnea Interiors

Welcome to the first blog in our Spotlight series, where we’ll be shining a light on some of our favourite interior designers, stylists, architects and Instagrammers, discovering the inspirations behind their projects and how they’ve used Ted Todd floors.

To kick off the series, we spoke to Alex Higginson of Linnea Interiors, a South London based interior design studio.

Tell us a little bit about your company and what you do.

Linnea Interiors are an interior design studio delivering considered interiors to stand the test of time. Primarily focussed on residential projects we have recently branched out into commercial spaces as well.

What were your main inspirations for getting into the industry?

It sounds slightly cliché, but it took renovating my first flat to realise that I had found my true passion. It was a steep learning curve but retraining at Chelsea College of Arts and a stint of work experience really cemented the passion for me.

How would you describe your design style?

I was born & bred in London, but my style choices have always been strongly influenced by my Swedish mother and the significant amount of time I have spent exploring my Scandinavian roots. I adore colour & texture and what I love most about my job is that I get to explore different styles with each client.

Any exciting projects that you’re currently working on?

I’m currently working on a large scale renovation & extension of a 1930s house which is really exciting as I’ve been involved since the very early stages and the space is just now starting to take shape.

I’m also working on a renovation in Clapham at a traditional Victorian mid terrace which is undergoing a complete transformation. The new scheme is going to be clean, minimal and contemporary with a gorgeous bespoke Ted Todd floor throughout.

I’ve just taken on a project involving a Grade II listed Georgian property in Greenwich which is exciting but daunting also as there are very strict rules regarding what you can and can’t do. The last listed building project I worked on was a 2 bedroom apartment in Paddington, so I feel confident that we’ll be able to navigate our way to the desired end result!

What current interior design trends are you a fan of?

I generally try to avoid trends in favour of timeless & personal design schemes. That said I am loving scalloped edge joinery, reeded glass & gloss paint- anything with texture is always appealing!

What do you like most about using Ted Todd flooring, and do you have a favourite product of ours?

The broad range of finishes and styles makes Ted Todd pretty unique. I have recently specified Cannock Chase, Allexton and Abbot for projects I’m working on. I’m hoping to work some Breton into a project in the near future.
