WELCOME TO WOODWORKS BY TED TODD

Woodworks by Ted Todd hold the largest reserves of antique and reclaimed timber in the world – including the finest English oak, Jarrah from the aluminium plains of Australia and centuries-old pitch pine from North America. A unique stock we’ve spent many years acquiring.

We work closely with clients to offer advice on sourcing and selecting wood for their project, whether for floors, paneling and joinery, knowing that it’s a one-off opportunity to source and match timbers to a specific period or look.

Our Rare Finds all come with their own history which is carefully researched and presented to clients on completion of the project. Recent finds include the finest quality Douglas Fir from the Old War Office in Whitehall, London and reclaimed Colonial Burmese Teak from South East Asia.

DISCOVER OUR RARE FINDS

As the world we live in becomes increasingly more urbanised, we all yearn to be closer to nature. Reclaimed wood flooring provides a connection to the wonders of the natural world. Each floor in our Rare Finds portfolio tells a story; whether it’s the provenance of the wood and the journey it’s been on, or the story of the craftspeople patiently working each piece of wood by hand.

These timbers have already been around for hundreds of years, often originating thousands of miles from British shores; including wood traced and acquired from the Old War Office and reclaimed genuine Teak floorboards from former Dutch East Indies homes. The next chapter in its story is up to you.

Yours to own for generations to come. The feel that a genuine antique and rare find wood floor adds is difficult to define and impossible to reproduce. The next chapter they tell is ready to be written by you – all you need to decide, is the narrative…

RECLAIMED WOOD FLOORS

Reclamation is at the heart of our business; it’s where we started, it’s how we grew and it’s where we learnt the skills required to make such elegant wood floors. Reclaimed wood floors deliver history, character and reduce environmental impact through re-use.

GALION

Respecting the heritage of old English Oak floors used in some of England’s historic country houses, Galion is an understated yet luxurious new wood floor. Creating new wood floors that emulate the look of an antique floor is no mean feat, but we believe that in Galion, our craftsmen have achieved a signature look that is authentic, traditional and true to Antique Oak floors.

DARK COLONIAL BURMESE TEAK

Native to the tropics, Teak is valued for both its beauty and durability. Teak naturally resists decay, insects, rot and is aptly nicknamed “the king of the hardwoods” due to its extreme stability. To reclaim this Teak we travelled over 5,000 miles to Burma, extracting them as floorboards from a South Asian 19th century colonial home.

BARS AND RESTAURANTS

The word ‘Tattu’ derives from a combination of the words, ‘Tattoo’ the art form which inspires their interiors, and ‘Tatau,’ an ancient word meaning to ‘make a mark,’ and with their bold, exciting interiors they certainly achieve that! Polished with a strong black herringbone wood floor from our Woodworks by Ted Todd Superwide portfolio, the restaurant immerses diners by fusing together beautiful design, with revolutionary Chinese cooking.
