Design consultancy Silver & Co recently redesigned and rebranded this substantial commercial property in Leatherhead to define it as a modern, welcoming workplace that offers flexible and inviting office spaces with a residential feel.

Having worked with Silver & Co on previous projects we were delighted to be their first choice when specifying for this exciting project.

bespoke pine floor

Enhancing the warm pastel palette, to redesigning collaborative areas and to giving break-out spaces the informal and comfortable feel employees demand with the perfect timber solution was key to the brief here.

After discussing their initial requirements our Specification Consultant, Verity Mayne, met with the design team to collaborate on a shortlist of samples specifically selected to deliver the original vision.

Verity’s speciality lies in working closely alongside clients in the workplace sector, as her knowledge on what makes the perfect office space floor is second-to-none.

She was able to understand the aims and aspirations of this project and provide a flooring choice that ensured The Birchwood Building achieved its design objectives. This included a bespoke open staircase which rises through the centre of double-height reception and lobby, leaving visitors impressed every time.

To give continuity and impact to the design, Verity recommended Dovecote, which was selected due to its grey lilac tones and its durable commercial finish, perfect for this environment.

The cohesion of the scheme is undeniable. The same material dominates the impressive architectural staircase, crisp reception area, mezzanine and upper levels for an immersive employee experience.

The client was absolutely delighted with the result – specifically the quality of the floor and made to measure staircase, which was a fulfilling challenge to pull-off with such precision.

Leatherhead workspace, featuring Dovecote plank wood floor

Jonathan Silver, Managing Director of Silver & Co said, “We were delighted with the responsiveness of the Ted Todd team and the quality of the product they provided. Everyone is delighted with the project.”

Available in plank widths of 220mm and lengths of up to 1900mm, Dovecote (from our Woodworks by Ted Todd Editions portfolio) is crafted from bleached American Black Walnut. The 2 ply engineered boards are then bonded to 100% Birch Plywood and hand-finished in our Cheshire workshops with our hard-wearing Naked skin lacquer.

The durability of Dovecote is further enhanced by its 6mm hardwood wear layer, making it a strong choice for a wood floor in a workspace.

We understand that from time to time, you may have a specific tone, pattern, scale or design that isn’t included in our portfolios, after all, everyone is marvellously different. Our Woodworks team offer bespoke services including floors and walls, finishes and architectural moulding – so whatever your project requirements we will worth together to create something bespoke for you.

Inspired, crisp, warming – the Birchwood Building is an inspired commercial refurbishment where the blend of interior architecture, design and branding shine to produce a contemporary workspace. Projects such as this are always a thrill, and we thoroughly look forward to working with Silver & Co on inspiring new looks soon.
